James Beard Award Semi-finalists

March Madness? Meh. The James Beard Foundation nominations make up the tournament we're following. There are more than 400 names on the list for a dozen categories — including best regional chef, rising chef, restaurant and more. Finalists will be announced March 22 and winners will be named on May 3.

So who’s on the short list for local foodie heroes? We scoured the nominations for those in our area. Here’s the list of top names in the Baltimore-Washington region.  (And yes, we included Philadelphia in the mix — it makes a great daytrip from ChesapeakeFoodie-Land.)
